A 2014 Greenpeace East Asia investigation into the “Vegetable Basket” programme, a government initiative aimed at ensuring food security and safety standards, looked at production and chemical use in four major vegetable producing provinces within China.

The results of this investigation highlight the major food safety problem in Chinese megacities, which are failing to deliver healthy, good quality food to millions of people.
