The Rainbow Warrior tours in Japan to highlight the Japanese government's plans to construct a new airbase for the US Military across the top of sensitive coral reefs and dugong habitat in Henoko, Okinawa. The Okinawa coral reef is home to more than 1,000 species of marine life, including the last population of dugongs in Japan and three kinds of endangered sea turtles. The airbase will be a replacement for the controversial Marine Corps Air Station located in the middle of Futenma city, however, much of the valuable habitats of Henoko will be completely destroyed by construction on the reef, and the impacts of an operational airbase would be devastating to the local environment.
