Action at the Prezioso Oil Rig in Italy
Greenpeace activists leave after occupying the ‘Prezioso’ offshore oil rig for 34 hours. The activists unfurled a 120 meter square banner depicting the Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, with a satirical message promising “Piu’ Trivelle per Tutti” (More Offshore Drilling For Everybody) and Greenpeace’s demand to “Stop Fossil Go Renewable”, from the rig operated by the Italian oil company ENI in the Sicilian Channel.
Greenpeace is protesting against an Italian governmental decree that offers incentives for offshore drilling and asks Prime Minister Renzi to promote ambitious EU renewable energy targets at a meeting on the 23th and 24th of October.
