Logging in Indigenous Area Cachoeira Seca
Greenpeace Brazil’s investigation on illegal logging documented tracks cleared in Indigenous area Cachoeira Seca (Dry Waterfall). These tracks are likely used by illegal loggers to transport timber logged within the area illegally, which would need to be ‘laundered' before it can be sold commercially. Several Greenpeace Brazil’s investigations revealed since May 2014 show how loggers in the Brazilian Amazon exploit weaknesses in the country’s regulatory system to launder illegally logged timber through the use of official documentation.
