Greenpeace Israel together with the collaboration of hundreds of football fans open a banner at Maccabi Haifa F.C’s final game of the season. The banner is intended to draw attention to the business activities of the The Ofer family, who control the city’s oil refineries. The stadium is also named after the family.

As part of the ‘GetUpAnd’ day of action, Greenpeace Israel are highlighting the company’s plans to expand their interests. Greenpeace is calling on the government to end any development of fossil fuels and invest instead in renewable energy.

Greenpeace joins Climat21, Climate Action Network, Avaaz, 350.org and Friends of the Earth to demand an end to forest destruction and nuclear & fossil fuel energy. The ‘#GetUpAnd’ Global Day of Action calls on people around the world to give political and corporate leaders a ‘serious wake-up call’ so that they tackle the causes of climate change and champion a transition to renewable energy by 2050.
