‘GetUpAnd’ Global Day of Action in Sweden
Greenpeace Nordic activists protest at the Social Democrats congress in Västerås, Sweden. To demand that all future coal to be mined is left in the ground. The state owned company Vattenfall emits more carbon dioxide than all of Sweden does together. Most of the emissions come from the company's lignite power plants in Germany.
Greenpeace joins Climat21, Climate Action Network, Avaaz, 350.org and Friends of the Earth to demand an end to forest destruction and nuclear & fossil fuel energy. The ‘#GetUpAnd’ Global Day of Action calls on people around the world to give political and corporate leaders a ‘serious wake-up call’ so that they tackle the causes of climate change and champion a transition to renewable energy by 2050.
