Kyoto Protocol Celebration in Kyoto
The launch ceremony of 'Solar Generation', a volunteer group of Greenpeace Japan, is held at midnight on the 15th February. This is prior to the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol which comes into force on the 16th February 2005. The ceremony and countdown to the 16th by Solar Generation members takes place under the ancient Sanjo Bridge, which crosses the Kamo River. The ceremony includes a candle light spelling of 'Go Solar'.
