End of ‘Turn the Tide’ Tour in Thailand
Greenpeace activists in an inflatable launched from the Rainbow Warrior entered Map Ta Phut industrial estate waters, 220 km east of Bangkok and unfurl a banner that reads 'Pollution knows no borders' to mark the conclusion of the Thailand leg of the ‘Turn the Tide’ Tour of Southeast Asia. Greenpeace expressed its disappointment with the Prime Minister's proposed solution to erect a buffer zone between the industrial estates and residential communities as the move not only attempts to downscale and deny the problem but also betrays the government's ignorance about the nature of pollution itself.
Greenpeace is calling on the Government of Thailand to Turn The Tide of dirty development and invest in green development for a peaceful future.
