Nuclear Action at Italian Embassy in Vienna
Forty Greenpeace activists from both Italy and Austria block the entrance to the Italian Embassy in Vienna. The activists, some dressed in ‘radiation’ suits, protest against the plans of the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, to restore the use of nuclear power in Italy by building new power plants. A banner reading "Stop Berlusconi Nuclear madness" is unfurled from the balcony of the embassy. The Austrian citizens are concerned about Italy switching to nuclear power as large parts of Austria would be affected in case of a nuclear accident in Northern Italy.
