Vigil for Japan Victims in Bangalore
Greenpeace activists and local people participate in a vigil at the India Gate war memorial in Bangalore. This is one of 11 vigils held in cities across India to mark the one-month period following Japan's nuclear disaster, and protests against the use of nuclear energy in India. In India, twenty reactors are currently in operation and the government plans to increase its fleet with an additional 21 foreign reactors. In Maharashtra, the proposed Jaitapur nuclear power park would be the largest nuclear power park in the world.
