Japan Radiation Monitoring Results
Wakao Hanaoka- Greenpeace Japan oceans campaigner, speaks at a press conference to announce the results from their marine sampling operation for radiation contamination. Greenpeace announced detailed results from its marine radiation monitoring activities along the Fukushima coast, which showed that radiation is accumulating in sea life, particularly in seaweed with some samples showing concentrations 50 times higher than official limits. Greenpeace issued a list of demands to the Japanese government, calling on it to urgently conduct comprehensive radiation monitoring along the Fukushima coast, to inform and protect the health and livelihoods of citizens and to investigate and halt discharges of contaminated water from the crisis stricken Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear plant.
