Birds Flying in Louisiana
Birds are surrounded by oil containment booms on Breton Sound Island on the southern most tip of the Chandeleur Islands, south of Louisiana where oil leaking from the Deepwater Horizon wellhead continues to spread. The BP leased oil platform exploded on April 20 and sank after burning. A scientist from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had concluded that oil is leaking at the rate of 5,000 barrels a day, not 1,000 as had been estimated.
