Picking Waste in Manila Bay
Waste pickers, including volunteers from Global Anti-Incineration Alliance (GAIA) and Ecowaste coalition, and Greenpeace crew, scoop out trash from Manila Bay as part of a waste audit activity held during the 9th Global Day of Action Against Waste incineration. Environmental groups are urging the governments to commit 'Zero waste' policies by designing waste out of production systems with prevention, reduction, reuse, recycling and composting. A similar waste audit was conducted by Greenpeace and Ecowaste in 2006.
