Retrieval of FAD in the Indian Ocean
A recovery team heads out in an inflatable boat to retrieve a FAD (fish aggregating device) from the ocean.
Greenpeace is recovering the 6th FAD on an expedition in the Indian Ocean to peacefully tackle unsustainable fishing. The marine snare had recently placed by a Spanish vessel supplying Thai Union. With some tuna stocks in the Indian Ocean, such as Yellowfin, on the brink of collapse due to overfishing, the expedition is exposing destructive fishing methods which contribute to overfishing and harm a range of marine life including sharks and juvenile tuna.
