Compared to the corn production of 15 years ago, the yield has declined between 800 to 500 kg in recent years and the corn ears have become smaller, according to a villager in Gaojiapu Town. Although the source of drinking water has been switched to the Yaozhen Reservoir, which is more than 80 km away, quality of water for farming has not been improved.
