Rock Band 'Boomerang' Join Damming in Kalimantan
Indonesian rock band 'Boomerang’ together with environment activists build a dam to block a canal drainage on the peatlands in Paduran village, Sebangau sub district, Central Kalimantan province, Indonesia. Greenpeace and other NGOs are working with the Paduran community to re-wet peatlands and prevent future fires. Central Kalimantan was badly hit during the 2015 forest fires disaster. Indonesia's peatlands cover just over 21 million hectares - an area smaller than the UK. Yet this small area stores 57GtC, equivalent to more than 6 years of global emissions from fossil fuels.
