Frozen Carcasses of Tuna in Taiwan
Frozen carcasses of tuna found in process zone in Dong Gang, one of the largest fishing ports in Taiwan. Taiwan is amongst the world’s largest tuna catchers, with its long lining fleets catching roughly a third of the world’s tuna sashimi. However, recent research released by Greenpeace East Asia has found Taiwanese tuna fisheries tainted with illegal activities and human rights abuse. Since traceability in seafood is not well established, consumers around the world can be eating tuna caught by illegal vessels and not even being aware of it.
