Inspection of the Taganrogskiy Zaliv in Antarctica - Clipreel
Greenpeace activists board the reefer Taganrogskiy Zaliv (linked to Laskaridis Shipping Ltd.) and talk with the Chief Mate, in order to carry out an inspection. The refrigerated vessel was on its way to carry out a transshipment.
Earlier, in a peaceful and safe protest, activists attempted to deliver a fender painted with the message “Ocean Destroyer”. The fender was found washed up on Elephant Island, an important Antarctic penguin colony, demonstrating irresponsibility on the part of the industry.
The Greenpeace ship Esperanza is on the final leg of the 'Protect the Oceans' voyage from the Arctic to the Antarctic. The almost year-long voyage is one of Greenpeace’s biggest ever expeditions and highlights the many threats facing the oceans while campaigning for a Global Ocean Treaty covering all seas outside of national waters.
