End this Meat Madness Protest in Denmark
17 activists from Greenpeace hang a 42 metre long banner on the roof of an industrial pig factory in Denmark. They also hang a 9 x 7 metre large banner on the pig factory's silos. The banners read, "Give Denmark's Land Back" and "Stop Pig Factories". Activists are also holding signs, which read, "End this Meat Madness" and "Less Meat = Less Heat".
The stall houses approximately 10,000 pigs. The farm is one of nine industrial pig factories in the area, all owned and managed by one family, Peter Kjær Knudsen and his three sons. The family produces 200,000 slaughter pigs and live piglets for export each year. The family also owms industrial pig factories in Sweden and Eastern Europe.
Greenpeace urges the Danish government to halve Denmark's production of cows and pigs by 2030 in order to reach the government's own goals of a 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
