Village Poedelwitz near lignite mining area Schleenhain. The seven hundred years old village with partly listed buildings is threatened by open pit mining Schleenhain which is run by the Mitteldeutsche Braunkohlengesellschaft (MIBRAG). Mibrag plans to extract the coal resources situated beneath the village and therefore remove Poedelwitz.
