Together with other Greenpeace offices from all over the world, Greenpeace Romania asks Siemens to distance themselves from any participation in the building of São Luiz do Tapajos dam and to take a public stand against the continuous destruction of the Amazon rainforest.

The Tapajos hydro energy project will have a severe impact on the lands and means of existence of thousands of indigenous locals, including the 12 000 indigenous Munduruku people who opposed the construction of the dam, for which they were never consulted. It is foreseen that the building of the dam will lead to the destruction of more 2200 square km of rain forest.
