Thai overseas fishing fleets struck by an outbreak of Beriberi in early 2016.
In January 2016, Greenpeace Southeast Asia investigated reports of forced labour and deaths onboard two Thai fishing trawlers. A crew of 32 had been hospitalised. Another six died of beriberi- a disease that leads to the inflammation of the nerves and in some cases, heart failure.
