The MV Wakashio owned by Nagashiki Shipping and chartered by Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd., (MOL) aground off Mauritius on July 25. The ship began to spill large amounts of fuel oil. On August 25, one month after the accident, Greenpeace Japan activists held banners at (MOL) headquarters, calling on MOL to fulfill its responsibility.
