Bearing Witness to the Deep Sea Mining Industry in the Pacific
Greenpeace International campaigners Dr Sandra Schoettner and Timo Liebe watch the deployment of the Patania II nodule collector from marine vessel Normand Energy, seen from the Rainbow Warrior. The vessel is chartered by Global Sea Mineral Resources (GSR), a Belgian company researching deep sea mining in the Pacific.
The Greenpeace ship is in the Clarion Clipperton Zone in the Pacific to bear witness to the deep sea mining industry. Part of the ongoing 'Protect the Oceans' campaign.
