Countryside of Tingerup, Denmark
Fields in the area of Tingerup, a small village with around 200 inhabitants 60 kilometers west of Copenhagen.
Rural countryside and small villages are being continually affected by the expansion of big intensive pig farms in the immediate vicinity of residential houses. Small farms are disappearing and residents report frequent smell, noise and air pollution. In interviews with Greenpeace Nordic in Denmark during this photo shoot, locals expressed concerns about the disposal of great amounts of manure. They worried about releases of chemicals and toxic substances into the air, and mentioned health issues such as headaches, diarrhoea and respiratory problems.
