Dairy Factory Farm in Spain
The dairy factory farm operating under the name “Valle de Odieta, S.C.L./Corraliza el Tomillar, S.Coop. and Hibridación Termosolar Navarra, S.L.” is located in the province of Navarre, Spain. It is the biggest dairy farm in the whole rural area of Navarre and one of the biggest in Spain. In the last 50 years there was a huge transformation in livestock production in Spain, from a traditional and extensive production to a very intensive and industrial production. This has a huge environmental impact. The intensive livestock farming has changed the shape of the landscape and the flora in the nearby fields. Green algae is visible on the water effluents from the farm, probably due to the high nutrient content on the manure being disposed. This nutrient pollution is likely to reach the Aragón River.
