Feliciano Pereira Ramos Picanço in Brazil
Portratit of Feliciano Pereira Ramos Picanço, 64 years old, resident of Ambé Quilombo, Amapá State.
The Cerrado is a vast ecosystem rich in carbon, biodiversity and culture, also known as Brazilian savanna.
Since early 2017, 47 areas have been embargoed by Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) for illegal deforestation in Amapá, which amount to at least 11.748 hectares. The Amapá state reproduces problems faced throughout the Amazon during the agribusiness boom: deforestation, land grabbing and conflicts with local communities.
