Artist Ruangsak Anuwatwimon and Activist in Thailand
Artist Ruangsak Anuwatwimon and a Greenpeace activist stand in front of an abandoned house near Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Rayong Province, 190 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. The estate is the site of the 1,400 megawatt (MW) BLCP coal-fired power plant. Coal plants are a major source of air particulate pollution.
Greenpeace is calling upon the Pollution Control Department to impose stricter standards on particulate matter in the country’s Air Quality Index and to monitor and enforce preventive measures on PM 2.5 in order to protect public health.
