Launch of the Music Track from Papuan Jungle in Jakarta
Winners of the Save Our Sounds 2-day Make-A-Thon are announced during the launch of Indonesian DJ Ninda Felina's new track – 'Birds of Paradise'. The selected team will be implement their project at Thailand's Wonderfruit festival in December, in collaboration with the Rainforest Pavilion, where Indonesian DJ Ninda Felina will play her new music track.
Launched on Sunday 22nd October, at Krowd space, Indonesian collaborative platform for creative talents, DJ Ninda Felina's new track – 'Birds of Paradise' – offers younger audiences a chance to connect with the issues of today, using a medium they love and admire. Ninda's track, in collaboration with Greenpeace, BBDO Singapore and world-renowned music producer and composer, Ben Rosen, is a love song dedicated to the jungles far from Indonesia’s heavily populated cities.
The Indonesian DJ joined Greenpeace for a 10-day trek throughout the Papuan rainforest to collect, with the help of professional field recordist Mark Roberts, different sounds that were mixed into her new music track 'Birds of Paradise'. The project, named Save Our Sounds, uses sounds captured from the Malagufuk Village in West Papua, including the sounds of songbirds like the charismatic Cendrawasih, marching ants, unseen insects and creatures of the night along with the gentle ebbs and flows of the surrounding rivers and falling rain.
DJ Ninda partnered with Greenpeace and BBDO Singapore for SOS project to bring the sounds of the jungle to the people of Jakarta. The project, and partnership, was born from a mutual desire to capture the unique sounds of pristine rainforest, found in a remote location, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness of the dangers that threaten our forests.
