Occupation of Fishing Vessel Anuva
Activists from the Greenpeace vessel MV Esperanza protesting against high seas bottom trawling by occupying the Lithuanian registered fishing boat ANUVA, North Atlantic. Some protesters were thrown into the sea during the protest.Bottom-trawling boats, the majority from EU countries, drag fishing gear weighing several tonnes across the seabed, destroying marine wildlife and devastating life on underwater mountains - or 'seamounts'. Greenpeace is demanding a UN moratorium on bottom trawling on the high seas.
