Boarding of Bottom Trawler Playa de Menduina
A Greenpeace activist jumps on to the net of the EU deep sea bottom trawler Playa de Menduina, to protest against the destruction caused by this fishing practice. Bottom-trawling boats, the majority from EU countries, drag fishing gear weighing several tonnes across the sea bed, destroying marine wildlife and devastating life on underwater mountains - or 'seamounts'. Greenpeace is demanding a UN moratorium on bottom trawling on the high seas.
