Meltwater Lake on Iceberg in Greenland
Surface meltwater creates a tiny pool in the summer heat, held captive on the surface of a tabular berg, which floats on Kane Basin. Meltwater pools, shallower and containing no salt, look blue against the greens of the deeper salt-water fjord. This berg is calved from Humboldt glacier, the widest glacier in the northern hemisphere, it has a front of 110 kilometers across.
