Measuring Ice Thickness in the Arctic
Scientists measure the thickness of sea ice through a hole in the sea ice. The hole was created by a 'hot water drill'. Polar oceanographer Dr Peter Wadhams, from the University of Cambridge, leads an independent team of five scientists. The scientists are working with the Greenpeace crew, researching the effects of climate change on fast depleting sea ice.
