March and April are the season for catching saury in the Yangtze river. The boat owner must pay RMB 3,000 for a special permit, which regulates fishing zones, from the fishing administration. Due to the highly polluted wastewater discharged by the surrounding factories, the amount of fish caught in the river has dramatically decreased.
