The Arctic Sunrise is in Sermilik Fjord. The ship and her crew are facilitating the field work of oceanographers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, in order to calculate the impact of ocean warming on east Greenland's outlet glaciers. Scientists are studying Helheim glacier which displays alarming signs of increased melt and flow rate.
