Climate 'Blue Alert' Sand Sculpture in India
Internationally acclaimed sand sculptor, Sudarshan Patnaik, creates a 7 ft high sculpture of Indian heritage monuments in the tidal zone of Puri’s Golden Beach. The sculpture depicts the Jagannath temple and Konark Sun Temple in Orissa, the Shore temple at Mammalapuram in Tamilnadu, and the Gateway of India. It was created as part of Greenpeace's campaign to raise the ‘Blue Alert’ on impacts of global warming. Sea level rise threatens to submerge iconic cultural heritage along the Indian coastline.
