Greenpeace volunteers hung the banner, "Monsanto out of our Food" in Portuguese and English from the roof of the company's headquarters in Porto Alegre. The demonstration took place during the World Social Forum. More than 100,000 people from all nations are gathered in Porto Alegre to share visions and strategies for a world based on justice and sustainability, as opposed to one dominated by irresponsible global corporations. The genetically engineered (GE) seeds Monsanto sells are a serious threat to food security and represent the wrong direction for agricultural research.
