Approaching Fishing Vessel
o2508043 25 August 2004 DOGGER BANK, NORTH SEA
Three Greenpeace activists prevent the UK flagged and Dutch owned vessel Friendship from fishing in the proposed Dogger Bank Marine Reserve, by hooking a big plastic buoy to its fishing net.
Trawlers such as the Friendship use big nets that destroy the seabed by ploughing into it as they pass, indiscriminately catching and killing everything in their path.
Greenpeace is proposing a Marine Reserve in the Dogger Bank, an area of 85,000 square kilometers in the middle of the North Sea.
