Climate Action on Copacabana Beach in Brazil
On Copacabana Beach, Greenpeace activists unfurl a 131 foot banner representing a ruler for measuring the potential sea level over the coming years and bearing a message ‘It’s Not Too Late' and 'Ainda há Tempo' (it's not too late written in Portuguese). As a low-lying city, Rio de Janeiro is extremely vulnerable to rising ocean levels due to climate change. With this action, Greenpeace sends a direct message to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which assembles in Brussels on the same day.
