Local children from an area of Majuro called Rita play basketball on the old foundations of a house that was washed away by the Pacific Ocean. All along the coast of Rita the houses are slowly loosing their battle against the sea. Throughout the Marshall Islands the land lies only inches above sea level. Rising sea levels pose a very high risk to the communities in the region. Families are already being evacuated from their houses due to erosion and salination of agricultural land and wells.
