Climate And Energy Clipreel 2005
Climate change is already affecting people and ecosystems. Its reality can be seen in melting glaciers, thawing polar ice caps, extreme weather conditions, bleached coral reefs, rising sea levels, forest fires and changing ecosystems. The damage to the climate is being caused by greenhouse gas emissions from the increased use of fossil fuels such as coal and oil. The solution to the protection of the climate is the use of renewable energy from wind, waves and sun which is affordable, safe and clean and has the potential to meet our energy needs many times over. At present, we obtain less than two percent of our electricity from the wind, ocean and sun. Clipreel features natural catastrophes caused by climate change; environmental polluters; victims of climate change; renewable energy examples; various Greenpeace Germany climate actions and statements by Karsten Smid, Greenpeace Germany climate expert and Dr. Gabriela Goerne, Greenpeace Germany geologist.
