Pole and line is one of the only true sustainable fishing methods on the planet with almost no by-catch. This method of fishing in Green Island was at its height during the 60s, with more than 20 fishing boats, and hundreds of fishermen. However, numbers have since plummeted to 3 boats and less than 10 fishermen.

The Greenpeace ship is in Taiwan for the "A Better Future, Together" tour. During her first time in Taiwan, the tour aims to invite the Taiwanese public to explore a better future, together with Greenpeace.
