Shell Petrol Station Action in Hamburg
Greenpeace volunteers, some dressed as polar bears, protest in Hamburg in front of Shell gas stations demanding that Shell stop its oil drilling plans in the Arctic. The same action is carried out on the same day in over 40 other German cities.
Greenpeace is campaigning for a global sanctuary around the north pole, and a ban on oil drilling and unsustainable fishing in the wider Arctic. Activists in 110 cities in 19 countries took action across the world last week to oppose Royal Dutch Shell's plan to drill in the Arctic, which is becoming more accessible due to rapidly melting sea ice.
