Protest Against GMO Corn in Mexico City
Two Greenpeace activists climb a flagpole in the Zócalo, at the heart of Mexico City and display a banner demanding President Enrique Peña Nieto protect corn, the grain of Mexican culture and food. The banner’s image is corn carrying the colors of the Mexican flag and the stamp "Property of Monsanto," with a message below: "Peña Nieto you are responsible!" The government must deny requests for commercial planting of transgenic corn in Mexico, many of them made by Monsanto.
