Birds being treated at the National Oiled Wildlife Centre, a wildlife response unit established to treat oil effected birds, following the oil spill from the container ship Rena that ran aground on the Astrolab Reef. The centre includes a processing room, washing room, morgue and post mortem tent and rehabilitation clean room as well as swimming pools. Two weeks after the ship ran aground more than 50 little blue penguins have been cleaned while 1200 dead seabirds have been collected.
