Indonesia is on the verge of extending a ban on clearing of its tropical forests. However, there are concerns that forest destruction for oil palm and pulp and paper plantations continues on the ground. A team from Greenpeace has been monitoring deforestation in Riau province of Sumatra from the air and on the ground.
