Palau government marine law enforcement officer Earl Benhart is seen looking out of a helicopter window at the extremely remote Merir Island in the South West corner of the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Palau. The island has around a dozen inhabitants who lead a subsistence lifestyle of farming and fishing, and are served by one supply boat every one to two months.
