Greenpeace sealed off the Aurul SA mining site in Romania and demanded the closure of the mine where cyanide contaminated waste water was released on January 30th, into the river system killing fish in the Tisza and Danube rivers. 25 activists sealed the entrance and unfurled a banner reading "Stop Cyanide". Greenpeace demands the owners of Aurul, The Esmerelda Exploration Ltd, from Australia and the Romanian state-owned company Remin, to accept full financial responsibility.
