Arctic 30 Tribunal at International Maritime Court in Hamburg

On the initiative of the Dutch government the International Maritime Court holds a hearing on the case of the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise, which has been held in Murmansk Harbour by the Russian authorities since September 18th, when the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise was seized after a peaceful protest at Gazprom’s Prirazlomnaya oil platform in the Pechora Sea. Russia has refused to take part in the court case.

Das Gericht verhandelt auf Antrag der Niederlaendischen Regierung, unter deren Flagge das Greenpeace Schiff "Arctic Sunrise" faehrt, im Internationalen Seegerichtshof in Hamburg den Fall des Greenpeace-Schiffes. Das Schiff wurde nach einem friedlichen Protest von Greenpeace Aktivisten an einer Gazprom Oelplattform in der Arktis von der russischen Kuestenwache beschlagnahmt und in den Hafen von Murmansk gezwungen. Russland weigert sich, an der Gerichtsverhandlung teilzunehmen.
