With the crowdfunding project ‘Turn On the Sun on Lampedusa", Greenpeace Italy raised 30.000 euro to build a solar energy system for the Lampedusa City Hall building.

In Italy, on 20 small islands that are not connected to the grid, electricity is produced through dirty and expensive diesel systems. Since many islands around the world are facing similar conditions, Greenpeace Italy initiative could be seen as a model to be used in other islands to have them start their own pathway to 100% renewable energy.
